THE ENDING OF THE BEGINNING

https://gardenofknowledgemalta.files.wordpress.com/2014/03/
The ending of the beginning, you're probably wondering what that means. The clue is all in the title throughout we've talked about the Bantu tribe and how their migration influenced many of Africa’s cultural practices. If we had time even looking into the African slave trade influenced culture but let’s be real here this isn’t a history class.  It’s time to look at the contemporary culture of Africa. How the past helped to influence the present. Why people dress a certain way. Why tribes practice certain culture. Believe it or not it’s all down to the last nitty gritty detail of the geography of Africa.

Now that I’ve finished rambling let’s get started. Contemporary culture in Africa is incredibly diverse with many languages ethnic groups living in the same communities. We know that they all ended up integrating due to the migrations throughout history. The majority of these groups combine traditional customs and beliefs with modern practices and conveniences. Three groups that practice this are the Maasai, Tuareg, and Bambuti.

The Massai peoples.

Nomadic pastoralists, this means they move around looking for fresh green lands for their cattle to graze.
  • Migrate throughout East Africa and survive off the meat, blood, and milk of their cattle.
  • Famous for their striking red robes and rich traditional culture.
  • live in isolation in unpopulated wilderness areas

The Tuareg.

  • Tuaregs are often called the “blue" men of the "Sahara” for the blue-coloured bubus that they wear.

  • pastoralist they move around in search of green pastures for their animals to graze on.

The Bambuti
  • Believed to be oldest existing bloodline in the world
  • primarily live in Congo basin or Ituri forest
  • the Bambuti tribe is the modernized version of the Massai and Tuareg tribes.

Africa is full of many cultures and the Bambuti tribe was the beginning of the Africa we know today.
